If you are thinking of planting a fruit tree, be sure to order your tree from a specialist fruit tree nursery near you. Specialist fruit tree nurseries have a wider selection of varieties, including easier-to-grow disease resistant varieties that are not usually available in garden stores.
On this page you can download our list of over 50 nurseries in the USA and Canada. Most of them will ship your trees to you in the early spring or late fall. The trees will be “bare root” so when they arrive you need to keep them in a cool, dark place and plant them as soon as possible as they will not survive long without soil around their roots.
For the best chance of success, research your fruit tree cultivars carefully to ensure that you have a tree that will thrive in your unique conditions. Learn how to research your tree in my “Researching your fruit tree” workshop - part of Orchardpeople.com’s online Certificate in Fruit Tree Care.
Now that you have this list, you can shop around to find a fruit tree that will fulfil your needs and thrive in your unique growing conditions.
