Ok, I know I’m not alone as a person who takes any chance they can get to hug a tree. Old trees are my absolute favourite. Why? Well, for lots of reasons but one of them is that older trees provide so many services to our communities. They cool and clean our air way better than any younger tree could. They shade our parks and public spaces. I explored this in my short film “The Last Oaks in Oakville” – part of an educational series of films called Tree Stories.

Do you have a great photo of you hugging a tree? I’d love to see it! Share it with the world on twitter with the tag #hugatree.
