It was a fantastic evening of learning, apple tasting and chocolate! The launch of my book Growing Urban Orchards took place on September 18th, 2014 from 7.00-9.00 pm and attendees were keen to learn more about the disease-resistant apple tree varieties available for organic and home growers.Attendees were treated to tastings of five different apples: RedFree, NovaMac, Priscilla, Freedom and George.

Special guests included myself (as the author!) and Gaye Trombley of Avalon (organic) orchards in Innisfil Ontario and Ken Roth of Silvercreek Nurseries. Big thanks go to Slow Food Toronto for sponsoring the event, to Evelyn’s Crackers for providing a huge apple crumble made with RedFree apples, and to Chocosol Traders for hosting and providing us with unlimited chocolate treats including hot chocolate, 82% dark chocolate squares and chocolate drizzled apples. It was a night of learning, indulgence and apples! Thanks to all for coming and participating!
